Photos taken near Matfield Green, Bazaar, Cottonwood Falls, and Elmdale on October 7, 2001.

Two riders on this trip: Henry Harvey - Moto Guzzi Quota and Roger Baugh - Kawasaki KLR650.

Weather was in the high 40s and clear in the morning, warming to the 60s in the afternoon. We started with a quick sprint to Cassoday, catching the tail end of a large "Biker Breakfast". Several hundred asphalt riders were present, riding all makes and displacements.

Being October, the prairie grasses have lost much of their green, but the wildflowers were still in great abundance. The backroad between Matfield Green and Bazaar was particularly scenic, as we chose the Sharpes Creek valley route.

We arrived in time to get an excellent lunch at the Emma Chase Cafe in Cottonwood Falls, then on to a ride along the Cottonwood River from Elmdale to Clements.

Once again, a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday afternoon!
