Photos taken on route between Teterville and Cottonwood Falls in Chase county July 29, 2001. Weather started out mild, proceeded to climb into the low 100s.

This was the first Backroads group ride. Making this ride were Wichita-based riders: Tom Hamby - KTM LC4 640, Ken Hill - Kawasaki KLX650, and Roger Baugh - Kawasaki KLR650.

One of the highlights of the trip was crossing a rain-swollen low water bridge on the North Fork of the Verdigris River. Further along, our route was diverted when we encountered a bridge that was at least ten feet under water. We had an alternate route, and were able to proceed northward across open range land.

We arrived just before closing time at the Emma Chase Cafe in Cottonwood Falls ... and after a hearty, conversation filled lunch, worked our way back to Wichita. As the photos show, the day was a visual treat!
