Ride Report for May 7, 2005

The morning started out with everyone arriving between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM at the rendezvous spot. A total of 10 riders made the ride. John Hickman, Joplin MO, KLR 650; Tony Adams, Udall KS, Triumph Tiger; Tom Montgomery, Tulsa OK, DR650; Roger Bosil, Claremore OK, BMW R100GS/PD; Tom Sawyer, Tulsa OK, KLR 650; Randy Snyder, Belle Plaine KS, KLR 650; David Webb, Parsons KS, XR 650L; Randy Eggert, Sand Springs OK, BMW R1150GS; Kenneth Meyer, Goddard, KS DRZ 400, and myself, Chris Allen XT 225.

We left my house at 10:00 and started on a loop through the Eastern part of Labette County and Western part of Cherokee County. The numerous stops included the Neosho River Dam, is Oswego, Kansas, Claythorne Lodge, east of Hollawell KS, Big Brutus mining shovel, West Mineral KS, Angelo’s in Hollawell KS where we had lunch, and Riverside Park in Chetopa KS.

After leaving Chetopa, on the homeward stretch made the final run for home with a ride through Altamont to announce that we arrived back in town. Approximately an eighty mile loop. It took about 4.5 hours.

A good group of riders, a good lunch, and heads turning every where we were. No incidents or accidents and not one break down. The wind was a little stout in a few places, the dust was also thick. Not to mention a few sprinkles. However, all in all a good day for a ride.

Thanks to all that made this a very successful ride. Hope to see everyone and more down in this area again.
