Photos taken near Bois d'Arc on the Little Walnut River in Butler County on January 26, 2002. Weather was too good to not ride, so an impromptu, non-sanctioned ride was called for .... and two intrepid riders rose to the task. The day started late in the morning with temperatures in the low 40s, and warmed to the 60s by late afternoon. The two riders on this trip: Tom Hamby - KTM LC4 640, and Roger Baugh - Kawasaki KLR650.

The abandoned bridge below spans the Walnut River and is located just west of Gordon, KS. A similar iron truss bridge is still in service above at Bois d'Arc, and was built in 1885. If anyone knows the history of the limestone outpost building at Bois d'Arc, we'd like to learn more. It appears to pre-date the bridge.

Save for the continuing drought and dusty road conditions, a perfect day for a winter ride. Once again .... Happy Trails!
